Intergenerational Fun: Dancing the Night Away at the Masquerade Prom

Louisville, Ky. – March 15, 2019 – Residents from seven Louisville-area Signature HealthCARE locations donned their ball gowns and tuxedos, and threw on their dancing shoes as they danced the night away at prom for Signature HealthCARE’s Masquerade Ball on March 14.

The Signature HealthCARE of East Louisville dining room was transformed into a beautiful and elegant scene perfect for toe-tapping and body-moving. The festivities commenced at 1 p.m. when Signature stakeholders and community volunteers served as beauticians for the day, assisting with hair, make-up, and nails glamming up every individual for the night of their life.

Whether a resident, stakeholder, or volunteer, people of all ages participated in the fun. Several members of the Kentuckiana Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, as well as Signature stakeholders, volunteered to be a prom date. They greeted residents at the door with a corsage or boutonniere before visiting the photo booth to capture the fun and create lasting memories.

With over 150 individuals in attendance, the evening was a night to remember for everyone involved, but it was particularly special for two residents. James Luebbert from Signature HealthCARE at Summerfield received a memorable birthday present when he was crowned Prom King and Loretta Block from Signature HealthCARE of South Louisville cried tears of joy when she was crowned Prom Queen. The individuals who wished to be in the running for King and Queen submitted their bios and were then voted for by stakeholders at Signature HealthCARE’s corporate office. The crown and tiara were donated by Opal’s Dream Foundation and the King and Queen’s flower bouquets were donated by Julianne’s Florist.

“The elders and their escorts for the evening were all dressed so beautifully,” Roni Anderson, Regional Quality of Life Director, said. “I’ve never seen so many smiling faces in one room. From the photo booth, hors d oeuvres, volunteer support, to the decoration of the dance floor, all the little details were in place, and made it an amazing event for all the elders in attendance.”

Signature HealthCARE believes a life with purpose is a life fulfilled, and last night’s festivities took our residents back to their high school days and reminded them you can have fun at any age. We want to say a very special thank you to the following organizations and individuals who donated their time and services. Without your support, this event wouldn’t be possible.
